YACHTING
CHRISTCHURCH CLUB At a social evening at the Pioneer Amateur Sports Club, trophies and prizes won during the year by members of the Christchurch Yacht Club were presented by the president, Mr W. H. Beanland. The commodore, Mr R. Beveridge, said that a keen, sportsmanlike spirit had been shown in the season's racing. He congratulated the yachtsmen who had represented the club in Auckland and elsewhere during the season. Trophies were presented as follows: — Life Members’ Cup, Scamper (T. Shields); Cumming’s Memorial Cup, Yvette (F. Morrison); Beanland Cup, Luana (R Blanchard); Commodore’s Cup, Patiki (J. Ayers); Vice-President’s Cup, Vira (L. Bamford); Mayoral Cup, Chance (W. Nicholson); Penn trophy, Rival (K. Bamford I; Marangi Cup, Annette (W. Hayes); Waterwich Cup, Galatea (A. Haworth); Stacey trophy. Vivid (G. Andrews); dinghy championship, Vivid (G. Andrews); Beveridge trophy, Enterprise (D- Milner); C. Ward trophy. Scamper (T. Shields); Memorial 'Cup, Chance (W. Nicholson); Waimakariri trophy, Scamper (J. Churcher); Burgess trophy, Livona (P. Mander).
WAIMAKARIRI CLUB The prize giving ceremony and dance of the Waiirtakariri Sailing and PowerBoat Club were held at the Papanui Memorial Hall, Mr R. H. Moor was presented with a wrist watch from the commodore, officers and members of the club, for his services in the club’s pick-up boat. Prizes won last season were as follows:—opening day race.
