VICEROY asks BRITISH OFFICERS TO STAY

(Rec. 7 p.m.) NEW DELHI, July 21. Lord Mountbatten added: “If a large number of highly trained and experienced British officers are suddenly removed the risk of serious breakdown will be very real. I hope that sufficient British personnel will volunteer, although no one will be compelled to serve on if he does not wish to do so. ’
