Field-Marshal Montgomery’s Tour
A question about the itinerary in the South Island of Field-Marshal Viscount Montgomery was asked in the House of Representatives to-day by Mr R. G. Gerard (Opposition. Ashburton), who requested the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr W. E. Parry) to give the subject further consideration. In a note to the question, Mr Gerard said many places appeared to have received inadequate consideration, one example being a stop of two minutes in Ashburton. —(F.0.P.R.)
Wigram Hostel According to information received by students of Canterbury University College, the proposal to establish a students’ hostel in buildings at the Royal New Zealand Air Force station at Wigram has been referred to the Public Works Department for consideration. Mr A. B. Thomson, university liaison officer, has been asked to make further representations for action to the Minister of Education (Mr H. G. R. Mason). The students had hoped to have a hostel open at Wigram for the second term.
