WOMEN AS MINISTERS
Sir,—To go back to the beginning of the Bible, Eve was certainly the dominant character. St. Paul went astray during the lifetime of some of the disciples. Christ said, “Go ye and teach,” etc., not “Go ye. men.” Many a woman in New Zealand before the war did a man’s work and her own. During the man-made war women were commandeered out of the homes, bombed out of them, and worked in dangerous areas shoulder to shoulder with the men. Now thousands have no home, but are still expected to bear children. As for women ministers, have we not already got them in the Salvation Army? Ordination counts for little. Women in most churches form threequarters of the- congregation, and rake in the shekels, so should have a majority voice in the management of the churches. —Yours, etc., C. OF E. May 7, 1947.
