The New Zealand Coastguard Service’s new 72-foot Diesel launch was officially commissioned recently by Mr T. E. Skinner, M.P. for Tamaki. The Government made the launch available to the coastguard as the result of representations by Mr Skinner, and the Royal New Zealand Navy helped to equip it. It will be used in the Auckland Coastguard’s service and will make its first official voyage next week-end. Formerly known as HDML 1187, the launch will now be known as the coastguard cutter Np. 1.
