WRESTLING
PROFESSIONAL BOUT AT TIMARU From Our Own Reportci TIMARU, May 6. Jim Wright (17st 101 b) drew with Jim Henry (JBst 31b), in a professional heavyweight wrestling contest at Timaru last evening, each man obtaining one fall. Forearm jolts, head punches, rabbit punches, and knee kicks were used frequently by both contestants, but the variety of holds was poor. Henry earned the displeasure of the crowd almost from the beginning of the bout with his tactics. After weakening his opponent with head punches in the third round, Henry applied two of his backbreakers and took the first fall. It was not until the seventh round that Wright took an equalising fall. He dropped Henry three times with forearm jolts to the jaw, applied a knee kick, and then dumped him before forcing him with a body press. Preliminary amateui pouts resulted;— J. Farmer (lOst 61b) beat A. Bradley (lost 61b) by two falls; I. Dunsmuire Ost 31b) beat C. Kelly Ost 41b) by one fall; A. Bishop (12st Jib) beat B. Nelson <l2st 41b) by two falls; B. O’Connell (list 11b) beat R. Depree (list 31b) by a fall, the loser retiring in the second round.
