ILLEGAL JEWISH IMMIGRANTS
CLASH WITH NAVAL BOARDING PARTY (Rec. 7 p.m.) JERUSALEM, April 15. It is officially stated that two persons were killed when the Navy boarded the illegal immigrant ship Theodor Herzl and a third person died of wounds in hospital. Bullet wounds and injuries from a bursting tear gas grenade caused the deaths. The flag draped bodies lay on the vessel’s deck when she berthed at Haifa. The immigrants, clinging to the rigging and lining the snip’s side, chanted “down with the Bevin Government.”
The Vaad Leumi and the Jewish National Council have called for a strike throughout Palestine from 6 p.m. to midnight local time to-day in sympathy with the 1000 illegal immigrants abroad the Theodor Herzl.
