Mg to 355; slips, 17s 6d to 255; weaners, 20s to Cattle.—Dairy cows, £l4 10». TEMUKA t (P.A.) TIMARU, April 15. Average entries were forward for the stock sale held at the Temuka saleyanu. The entry of 130 head of fat cattle met with a sound sale, an extra good Shorthorn steer making £2B 7s 6d. Fat sheep met with keen butchers’ competition. The store sheep did not vary much on lata values, although some pens were passed at auction. The dairy cattle were also in very strong demand. The pigs met with a sluggish sale. Prices were easier in all sections H Lorneville to-day. The entry of 190 fit cattle was 34 above the figure for the previous sale. Generally prices showed an easing tendency compared with those ruling on April 1. Prime heavy-weight cattle sold to £23 ss, medium wetghii £l6 10s to £l9 10s, lighter and unfinished down to £lO 10s; fat heifers to £U>, medium £l2 to £l4 10s, lighter and unfinished down to £8 10s; fat cows to £l4 10s, average quality £8 IQs to £l2, vetoers from 30s to £3 15s. Although there was a big yarding « 569 fat sheep the number was down by about 250 compared with the entry at the previous sale. Good quality fat wethers made 37s to 39s 6d, medium quality 33s to 365, lighter down to 30s; Down cross two-tooth ewes 29s to 345, older ewes to 245. * . ff TINWALD Prices for fat wethers were generally firmer at the Tinwald stock sale yesterday, when there was a good demand tor sheep showing quality. The store section was larger than usual. ■ Fat wethers sold at up to 30s for JM** weights, to 34s for medium, and to 39s for prime quality. Mr W. L. L. Mclnnw (Eiffelton) sold five at 38s 7d, six at « 4d and six at 37s lOd. Fat ewes realised up to 17s for figntweights, to 19s 6d for medium. IWi JO 24s lOd for prime quality. H. BWJ (Flemington) sold six at this Price Mienteen two-tooth ewes sold from zbs *■ to 38s 7d. Prices for fat lambs varied from » W 32s 4d, five being sold on behalf of to« Coldstream Red Cross at 32s 4d. Fat cows sold at £l9, £l5 2s 6d, and w 17s 6d, and a fat steer sold at £ 17 2s fid. MINING Austral N.Z.—For 23 days to Aprill2 the return was 459 ounces in 288 noun from 174.000 yards.
