COLONIAL OFFICE APPOINTMENT

MAJOR E. fe. LLOYD ON LEAVE IN N.Z. “ The Press ” Special Service AUCKLAND, April 14. A holder of several Colonial Office appointments in the Pacific since he was seconded from the New Zealand Expeditionary Force in Fiji during the war. Major' E. E. Lloyd, New Zealand Staff Corps, of Christchurch, arrived at Auckland in the motor-ship Trienza. from Ocean Island, where he was district officer. Major Lloyd first held the appointment of secretary to the Government of the Gilbert and Ellice Islands Colony, with h< dquarters at Tarawa. He was then transferred to the Condominium of Canton Island and Enderbury Island, in the Phoenix Group, as British representative. The two islands are owned jointly by the United Kingdom and the United States. After three months’ leave in New Zealand Major Lloyd expects again to be posted to Canton Island.
