EUGENE GOOSSENS TO SAIL FOR SYDNEY
APPOINTED RESIDENT CONDUCTOR
WASHINGTON, March 27. Mr Eugene Goossens will sail from New York about May 20 to take up his appointment as Resident conductor of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Director of the New South Wales Conservatorium of Music. Mr Goossens, conductor of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra for 15 Sears, was appointed to his new posion last November for three years at a salary exceeding £5OOO a year.
