The promotion of Senior-Detective William Kane to sub-inspector is announced in the Gazette. —(P.A.) Mr Basil Dowling, M.A., a graduate of the New Zealand Library School, has been appointed assistant in charge of the reference department of the library of the University of Otago. Mr Dowling is the author of two books of verse, “Day’s Journey” and “Signs and Wonders.”
