MAORIS ALLOWED TO ADOPT CHILDREN
♦ (P.A.) WELLINGTON, March 20. Provision for the adoption of Maori children by Maori parents along the lines of the adoption of European children by European parents is contained in an amendmentto the Maori Births and- Deaths Registration Regulations 1935. Under the amendment a Maori can now obtain a copy of a re-entry made by the Registrar-Gen-eral, whereas previously there was no provision whereby the RegistrarGeneral could re-register a birth in the names of the adopting parents.
