OBITUARY
MR G. H. ARNOLD The death occurred on March 9 of Mr George Hendry Arnold, at the age of 43, after a short illness. He was a son of the late Mr Richard William Arnold and Mrs Arnold of Christchurch. He was educated at the Christchurch Boys’ High School, and took a keen interest in sport, playing football for his school, and later he was a prominent member of the Canterbury Rowing Club. For many years Mr Arnold was accountant at the Christchurch branch of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., and internal auditor for the company throughout New Zealand for a period, and he was a member of the New Zealand Society of Accountants. Mr Arnold was a member of Lodge Brighton No. 236 for a long period, and was Master of this lodge in 1945, an office which he held with distinctly!. He was secretary of the 1944/45 group of Masters, known as the Victory Group, an office he held since the inception of the group Mr Arnold, who was unmarried, is survived by his mother and sister, Mrs D. Millar.
