ELECTIONS IN PERSIA

MAJORITY FOR DEMOCRATS (Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON. January 22. The Teheran radio announced that Ghavam Sultaneh’s Democrat Party polled a majority of votes in the election which closed on January 18. Dr. Mohammefi Mosadegh s opposition party received the second highest number of votes. Demonstrations throughout the country yesterday celebrated the Government bloc’s victory in the election. In Warsaw, factory workers assembled in the city’s main square where the party leaders addressed them. A group of students carried a box labelled “Mikolajczyk’s coffin.” One of the mourners was dressed up to look like Mr Churchill.
