DISCUSSIONS ON BURMA
CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY QUESTION (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, January 22. Reuters political correspondent considers that the biggest achievement likely to emanate from the British , talks with the Burmese Government i representatives will be an agreement ;on ways and means of producing a Burmese Constituent Assembly by I direct election. The correspondent doubts that the British Government, as a result of the talks, will make a categorical declaration that Burma will be independent a year hence.
