STOCK EXCHANGES RISE IN REFRIGERATING COMPANY SHARES New Zealand Refrigerating £1 paid rose sharply to sales at 40s on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday. This was a rise of 7s 6d on the last sale. The 10s paid shares had reported business at 19s, but the market closed firmer at 19s 9d, 21s 6d. National Bank of New Zealand shares maintained their price at 70s, with a reported sale of 200 shares. Westport Coal reached the sales list again with a reported sale of 500 shares at 33s 4d. Mount Lyells were firmer on a reported sale at 23s 7d. Sellers offering at reduced limits in the banking section failed to attract buyers, and there was little demand for Government stock.
