ELLESMERE COUNTY COUNCIL

A grant for the clearing of the Homebrook creek had been recommended for inclusion in the 1946-47 estimates, stated a letter from the Lands and Survey Department received at a meeting of the Ellesmere County Council. Flooding from this creek was serious, said the chairman (Cr. A. Anderson). It was agreed to proceed with the clearing work at the earliest opportunity. An application from the Ellesmere Aquatic Club for. the use of the council’s bulldozer to construct a small boat harbour on the shore of Lake Ellesmere at Lakeside was declined, members stating that the machine was not suitable tot the class of work to be undertaken. It was agreed to impose a 10 per cent, penalty on rates unpaid by February 21. Advice was received from the Railways Department that it would contribute £B5 towards the cost of erecting a bridge over a drain on Hanmer road, near Doyleston, the estimated cost of which was £l7O. The department also undertook to do the work. The offer had been accepted, it was stated. Mr R. G. Allan was appointed a member of the Ellesmere Cemetery Baord.
