COAL CUTS IN BRITAIN
CRITICAL PERIOD AHEAD LONDON, January 20. A Board of Trades spokesman seid that the coal cuts, which came into force to-day, were made in allocations, not deliveries. Many firms had been receiving less than the allotted amount for some time. The next six weeks Would be the most critical period. The spokesman said that allocations to industry would probably be improved with the longer hours of daylight, better weather, and smaller domestic consumption. The new allocations wodld probably mean a reduced output in Some cases, but not in nationally important industries.
