NEW PROGRAMME FOR CHILDREN (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) TOKYO, January 20. Allied Headquarters announced that a new education programme will be instituted on April 1 under which Japan’s 19.000.000 school children, will be given a modern free education. The education chief (Mr Mark Orr) said the new system would include three additional years’ compulsory education for every child. There would be equality between boys ancj girls and student participation in school government. He added that the Japanese education system had been entirely revised, with ultra-nationalis-tic and feudalistic elements eliminated. The new system and its teachings would be free from political influences.
