500 New Buses for London.—The first consignment of 500 new buses to meet increasing transport needs will soon be on the streets of London. An officer of the Transport Board said that they would be the most up-to-date vehicles of their type in the world. Last year, London’s buses carried 4,400,000,000 passengers.—London, January 20. Salaries of Australian M.P.’s.—A section of the Federal Parliamentary Labdur Party proposes aft increase ift the salaries of private members Of Parliament from £lOOO td £l5OO a year. The Prime Minister (Mr Chifley) and an influential sectien will probably oppose such an increase. A special sub-committee of the caucus will consider the proposal before Parliament meets on February 19.—Sydney, January 21.
