DESERTER SENTENCED
♦ IMPRISONMENT WITHOUT HARD LABOUR A sentence of six months’ imprisonment without hard labour was imposed by a court-martial on William Barrv, aged 28, who was charged recently with dethe Army on December 27, 1944, after being warned for active service. and with being absent without leave until he was arrested by the civil police at North Beach on December 31, 1946 A further charge was preferred, that of escaping from the detention barracks at Burnham on December 27, 1944. The sentence of the court-martial has been confirmed by Brigadier E. T. Rowllings, District Commander, Southern Military District.
