REFRESHER COURSE
SEVENTY DELEGATES From to-morrow until next Wednesday inclusive, a refresher course for home science teachers will be held in Dunedin. Organised by the New Zealand executive of the Home Science Alumnae Association, in conjunction with the staff of the School of Home Science, University of Otago, and approved by the Department of Education, the course will be attended by 71 registered delegates from districts throughout the Dominion and by the staff of the School of Home Science. The subjects to be dealt with will include nutrition (Dr. Elizabeth Gregory), physics (Mr C. C. Roberts), clothing (Miss A. M. Bowbyes), homecraft (Miss P. Jackson), house planning (Miss A. M. Bowbyes and Mr Eric Miller), mothercraft (Dr. Helen Deem), art (Mr F. A. Shurrock). Talks of a general nature will be given by Professor Strong and Mrs Benson (two previous deans of the School of Home Science). Miss Rae Vernon, who has recently returned from the United States of America: Miss Violet Macmillan, of the A.C.E. staff, who has 'been on leave of absence with the Young Women’s Christian Association in the Middle East and Italy; and Miss Helen Thomson, of the Home Science School staff, who has spent the last two years doing wool research work at Leeds University.
