TIMBER INDUSTRY IN N.S.W.
ALLEGATIONS OF BLACK MARKETING
(Rec. 11.30 p.m.) SYDNEY. Jan. 20. The New South Wales Cabinet has refused to establish a timber distribution quota system which leading timber merchants advised as a means of stamping out the black market in timber. Sensational developments are expected within the industry in the next few days. A demand for a Royal Commission to investigate the practices of black marketeers, some of whom are stated to be refugees, is forecast. The Cabinet has decided to register all timber merchants and sawmillers.
