ALLEGED PLOT IN HUNGARY
OFFICIALS RECALLED FROM ABROAD (Rec. 7 p.m.) BUDAPEST, Jan. 19. ‘The plot to overthrow the Hungarian Republic involves many active and former officials of the Hungarian Foreign Office,” says an official announcement in Budapest. “The Foreign Minister has ordered the recall of many Hungarian officials abroad, including Mr Tamas Szabo, press attache in London, Mr Mihail Hoegye, of the Legation in Paris, and Mr Geza Sos, of the Legation in Switzerland.” - The announcement Slso names Hungarians who are being recalled from Milan, Rome, and Salzburg. Official sources allege that Mr Geza Sos founded in 1941 an organisation called “Hungarian Community,” which became the core of the conspiracy. He was constantly in touch with Baron George Backach-Bessen-yei, former Hungarian Minister in Berne, who is described as “leader of the pro-Horthy politicians” who emigrated to Switzerland. The Budapest newspaper “Szabadsag” alleges that a number of persons abroad have been in touch with the conspirators, and names people living in Britain. The newspaper added that the headquarters of the adherents of Admiral Horthy are in Britain.
