DUCKS ON THE AVON
§i r 'S“ In su PPort of my letter submitted on January 11, to “Christians, Wake Up. ’ I would like further to point out the last passage in his or her letter is out of order. It reads thus: “I cannot imagine people who profess to be bird lovers having so little pity for others of God’s helpless creatures,” seeing that throughout the years I have spoken in protest against cruelty to all dumb creatures, to the public, m halls, etc. One does not only speak in defence of birds; my sympathy and pity is for all creatures; but one point at a time. If “Christians, Wake Up,” cares to have the last word in this let him do so. I » a j. n °t further reply to “Cross Road’s” letters. Facts are facts, and there is the one bright road to truth.— Yours, etc., F. E. RICHARDSON, Forest and Bird. PS—I should like to add a line of appreciation to “Teacher.” January 14, 1947.
Sir, —Keeping the balance of nature in a practical manner is not easy. Perhaps “Christians Wake Up” does not have a grasp of the problem, which is immense and far-reaching. At least the writer has not brought forward a better solution of the problem as it now stands, but casts a stigma on those who are doing their best according to the knowledge they have, taking into consideration the fecundity of wild life. If wild life by some means were not controlled, then Christians would soon not be able to ■Jat. unless they caught their food in the same manner they now condemn, and kept warm clothed themselves in the skins thereof.—Yours, etc., T , SILVER NIB.
