LAND BOUGHT BY CROWN
MARLBOROUGH PROPERTIES FOR SERVICEMEN
(P.A.) BLENHEIM, January 15. Four properties in Marlborough, aggregating 11,667 acres, have been purchased by the Crown for the settlement of returned servicemen. They include the well-known Craiglockhart station owned by Mr C. O. T. Rutherford, whose Merino stud is prominent throughout New Zealand, and Mr E. H. Eccles’s Claverley estate at Kaikoura.
It is expected that the four properties will subdivide into 11 units—eight sheep farms, one dairy,, and two agricultural. Negotiations for the purchase of other well-known pastoral stations are in hand.
