DEVELOPING JET ENGINES
EXPERIMENTAL STATION TO BE BUILT (Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) (Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON, January 15. The Government is to build a huge experimental station to develop jet engines for electrical power plants, locomotives, and ships as well as aircraft, reports the “Daily Express.” It will probably be sited near Bedford and will employ thousands. The development of gas turbine power plants means that liquid fuel instead of coal will be used for generating current. The project will be controlled by Dr. Harold Roxbee Cox, director of the riational gas turbine establishment.
