“DIED THREE TIMES”
MAN’S HEART RESTARTED TWICE LONDON. January 14. Albert Beaupre, aged 66, “died three times,” according to evidence at an inquest at St. Pancras. Beaupre was being operated on in hospital for a throat ailment which was threatening him with starvation. The surgeon said in evidence that the patient’s heart, during the operation, stopped beating for three minutes; but direct massage and an injection restarted it. The heart stopped again, and was again restarted. The operation continued. The heart this time beat for 29 minutes before it stopped, and all attempts to restart Jt failed.
