ERUPTION IN PHILIPPINES
VILLAGERS KILLED BY LAVA FUMES
(Rec. 11 p.m.) MANILA, January 15. Three villagers were killed by lava fumes to-day from the violently erupting Mayon volcano, whicn rained ashes over a wide area and sent more than 6000 Filipinos on Southern Luzon fleeing to evacuation centres.
Two hundred lepers at the Legaspi Leprosarium, from which 20 had already escaped, begged the authorities for permission to be moved.
