CANADIAN FREIGHTER IN DIFFICULTIES VESSEL BREAKING UP IN HIGH SEAS <Rec. 10 p.m.) NEW YORK, Jan. 14. The mountainous seas which have dislocated North Atlantic shipping schedules grew even worse to-day, and in New York bad weather caused the cancellation of 208 flights from La Guardia field.

The Canadian Government-owned freighter Tecumseh Park has radioed that she is breaking up. An American Army transport is standing by, and a Coastguard cutter and two tugs are speeding to the scene. The Tecumseh Park, of 7163 tons, radioed that she was wallowing in high seas 800 miles east of Halifax, with four upper deck plates smashed, and her speed reduced to five knots A United States Navy tug left Argentia, Newfoundland, to aid the freighter, and a Canadian tug sailed from Halifax. The Tecumseh Park left Le Havre on December 29 for Halifax. The storm, which has been raging for more than a week, forced the steamer Ganandoc aground off the Newfoundland coast. The Ganandoc radioed that she needed immediate assistance. An air search is proceeding for a Boston trawler, which is four days overdue, with 17 men aboard. The tanker Williamsburg, which ran aground off the Delaware coast, was refloated and taken in tow by a tug. Several passenger vessels have reached New York up to five days late. Even the Queen Elizabeth was forced to slow down, and is not expected to dock until Friday, one day later than the schedule.
