AIDS TO AIR NAVIGATION
NON PROFIT COMPANY FORMED
BRITISH CORPORATIONS CO-OPERATE LONDON, January 13. Britain has taken the lead in making the world’s air routes safer. Three British air transport corporations, the British Overseas Airways Corporation, British European Airways, and British South American Airways, have formed a non-profit company to be known as International Aeradio. Ltd. The chairman will be Mr Whitney Straight, who was nominated by British European Airways. Mr Straight announced that International Aeradio, Ltd., would be a cooperative undertaking, with governments and air line operators contributing to the cost of providing radio aids to navigation and safety generally. The initial capital would be £250.000. The British Overseas Airways Corporation and British European Airways would hold 30 per cent, each and British South American Airways 10 per cent. The balance would be offered to Dominion and foreign operators wishing to participate.
Mr Straight said that the company should be showin a results inside six months.. The purpose of the new company is defined as “to install and operate telecommunications and radio and radar aids to navigation throughout the world, wherever they are required and where they would not otherwise be available.”
