MR MACKENZIE KING BECOMES A “CANADIAN CITIZEN.”—The Prime Minister of Canada (Mr W.L.Mackenzie King) receiving Canadas No. 1 certificate of Canadian citizenship from Chief Justice Thibaudeau Rinfret in the Supreme Court, Ottawa on Januar y 4 , when National Citizenship Week was launched. Officially described as making the final step in the development of the Dominion's nationhood and of effective independence, the Canadian Citizenship Act establishes a distinctive Canadian nationality. Passports are now stamped “Canadian Citizen,” but Canadian travellers continue to have the benefits accruing to British subjects, particularly within the British Empire.
