DANGER TO BRITISH BREAD RATION
SHORTAGE OF SHIPS TO BRING GRAIN
LONDON, January 13. “Britain’s bread ration is in danger of being reduced in the next few weeks,” says a leading article in the milling trade’s paper, “The Miller.” The article says that this is the view of many leading men in the grain trade and that there are indications that the Minister of Food (Mr John Strachey) also fears the worst. Mr Strachey, it is stated, cannot find ships to move grain when it arrives at Canadian ports and the ration will be reduced before March unless the necessary ships are secured in the next few days. A Ministry official to whom the “Daily Mail” referred the article, said that the matter was highly complicated. .
