TINWALD Prices for ewes were firmer than at last week’s sale, but values for wethers still showed an easing tendency at the Tinwald stock sale yesterday. There was a moderate yarding. Fat ewes sold at prices up to 15s for light-weights to 17s 6d for medium grades, to 20s 6d for good quality, and to 22s lOd for prime heavy ewes. Six four-tooth maiden ewes realised 31s Id. Fat wethers brought up to 28s 6d for light-weights, up to 30s 6d for medium, to 33s 6d for goqd quality, and to 37» 4d for prime heavy wethers. In the store section 112 breeding ewes sold at 24s 9d and 175 late lambs at 23s 6d. Prices for 15 spring lambs ranged from 24s 4d to 34s 7d. A bull realised £5, and a fat cow £l3 12s 6d. LORN EVILLE • (P.A.) INVERCARGILL, January 14. The yarding of fat sheep at Lorneville to-day totalled 704, compared with 884 last week. Heavy-weight wethers were easier, while medium and light-weights remained firm. Ewes showed little or no variation Heavy-weight shorn wethers made 36s to 38s 6d; medium and light-weights, 33s to 355; good quality fat ewes. 27s 6d; medium. 20s to 21s 6d; aged. 17s to 18s: The fat cattle entry of 117 compared with 114 last week. Good quality medium and light-weight steers and heifers and good cows sold at rates in keeping with last week’s sale, but heavy-weight sorts were a fraction easier. Heavyweight bullocks made £26 10s, medium £22 to £24 10s; handy sorts, £?0 10s to £2l; light-weights. £l5 10s to £l7 10s. Heavy-weight cows made to £l9; »good quality medium-weights. £l5 to £l7; unfinished. £ll 10s to £l3; aged, £9 9s to £lO 10s. Heavy-weight heifers made £l5 to £l6 10s; light-weights, £ll 10s.
