ELDERLY WOMAN’S DEATH AT SEA
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, January 14. A passenger in the Largs Bay, which has arrived at Auckland from London, died when the vessel was between Port Said and Aden. She was Mrs Mary Isabella McHaffie,, aged 76, who was travelling to New Zealand with her son. Dr. J. McHaffie, of Invercargill. Dr. McHaffie was a major in the Royal Army Medical Corps during the war.
Mrs McHaffie had been in a nursing home in Britain for some months before the ship sailed, and was taken on board on a stretcher. She was buried at sea.
