Included in this total were 322 permits issued for dwellings in 1946 of a total value of £471,011, compared with 141 permits valued at £196,694 for 1945.

Returns from the Heathcote County Council show that in 1946, 206 building permits were issued (£138,101 in value) of which 185 were for dwelling’s (£134,371). In the previous year only 143 permits (£81.325) were issued and of these 119 (£74,179) were for dwellings.
