SHIP HITS MINE IN PEARL RIVER
FORTY-NINE MISSING
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 7 p.m.) HONG KONG, Jan. 12. The 700-ton ship Toishan struck a mine in the estuary of the Pearl river and sank within three minutes. Fprty-nine of the 150 passengers and crew are mis Sing. It is feared that many persons were trapped inside the hull. The Toishan was formerly a Russian gunboat.
