FREE PRESS IN GERMANY
COMPANY FORMED IN BRITISH ZONE (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, January 12. A German limited company will take over the news service which the British military authorities launched in Western Germany. This marks a new stage in the development of a free, independent German press. The remaining British control staff will leave before June 30 and the agency, which will be formally known as Deutsche Presse Dienst, will be wholly independent. The Military Government will check the news only after publication. rhe agency plans amalgamation with the Deutsche Nachrichten Agentur in the American zone.
