CONFERENCE ON PALESTINE
ATTITUDE OF ZIONIST CONGRESS
(Rec. 7 p.m.) . BASLE, Dec. 16. A spokesman at the World Zionist Congress said: “The general feeling of Congress is for conditional participation in the London conference.” It was explained that conditional participation meant some British Government hint that the Zionist demands will form the basis of the Palestine conference in January. The spokesman admitted that the Arab resolution to boycott the conference if the Jews and the United States Government were represented complicated the matter.
The political future of Dr. Chaim Weizmann, president of the World Zionist Congress for many years, is at stake as a result of criticism by the Congress of his policy of co-operation with Britain. A spokesman said: “There is just a majority against Dr. Weizmann, but no majority for anyone else.”
