BRITISH BACON RATION
REDUCTION PLANNED IN JANUARY INCREASE IN MILK SUPPLIES
LONDON, December 16. The Minister of Food (Mr John Strachey) in the House of Commons announced that Britain’s bacon ration would be reduced on January 5 from 3oz to 2oz a week. * This action is the result of the effect on stock feed supplies of the acute world shortage of cereals. Mr Strachey paid a tribute to British farmers' making possible a piece of good news to offset the bad news about bacon. He said the milk ration would be increased on December 22 from two to two and a half pints a week.
