AUCKLAND TRANSPORT PLANS

USE OF TROLLEY-BUSES

(P.A.) ? AUCKLAND, Dec. 17. A plan for the transport development of the city of Auckland was revealed by the manager of the Auckland Transport Board (Mr E. B. Foster), at a special meeting of the board to-night, wnich approved his proposal to use the 50 trolley-buses on order to convert the Herne Bay, Ponsonby, and Richmond road tram routes. The idea behind this conversion was part of his own general plan, which the board might or might not agree with, said Mr Foster. It involved as principles the avoidance of congestion, right turns* across busy traffic, and cutting across other routes in the interest of speed and dispersal of loading. His idea of converting the Herne Bay, Ponsonby, and Richmond road services with the trolly-buses on order was of long standing, and if had been confirmed by what he had seen in his recent travels overseas, said Mr Foster.
