RICCARTON BOROUGH STREETS
Sir,—A correspondent signing himself “Hayseed,” writing in your paper under date December 11 on the above subject, asks two questions which in effect mean: (a) When are the streets of Riccarton going to receive muchneeded attention?! (b) Why cannot the streets be tar-sealed to the edge of the channels? A footnote to “Hayseed’s” letter reads: “The Riccarton Borough Council has no comment to make on this letter.” I should like to have something to say about this matter, but before doing so would be glad to know if the letter v/as referred to a member of the staff of the Riccarton Borough Council or to a councillor or councillors with the necessary authority to say yes or no.—Yours, etc., ENGINEER. December 17, 1946. [The letter was referred to the Mayor and councillors through the Town Clerk.—Ed.,. “The Press.”]
