THE CLOTHES SHOP
Lengths of beautiful hand-made late, white gloves of kid and suede, and crocodile-skin shoes, are amongst the many attractive articles that will form part of the stock of the “Clothes Shop,” which will be open in the Caledonian Hall for one day early in October. These goods were on view at a meeting of the executive committee held yesterday afternoon. Mrs Algar Williams presided, and Lady Clark-Hall and Miss Joan Fulton reported on preliminary arrangements. It was explained that the proceeds from the shop will be used, as in the past, for the relief of distress amongst the blind of the citv. especially for providing coal for the needy during the winter. It was announced that gift p ..reels of goods for sale may be left at Messrs Frank A. Cook’s, Colombo street, or at Mrs J. G. Collins’s home, Springfield road, and that the shop will open at 12.30 p.m. Stall-holders were appointed as follows:—antiques, Mrs C. C. Davis; men’s clothing, Mrs G. T. Weston; sports wear, Mrs R. C. Jamieson; millinery, Miss N. Enright; juveniles’ clothing, Mrs Vesey Hamilton; furnishings, Mrs E. W. Cuddon; shoes, Mrs Eric Millton; frocks, Lady Clark-Hall and Mrs Endell Wanklyn. Mrs W. Day will be in charge of refreshments fbr the workers and Mr A. G. Kemp will be treasurer.
