EXHIBITION IN N.Z. AND AUSTRALIA

INDEPENDENT PRODUCERS INVOLVED

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 19. An arrangement for the exhibition in Australia and New Zealand of independently produced British films was announced to-day by Mr M. J. Moodabe, governing director of Amalgamated Theatres, Ltd.

“The announcement is made on behalf of Mr Murray Silverstone, president of the 20th Century Fox International Corporation of New York, Sir Arthur Jarratt, deputy-chairman and managing director of the British Lion Films Corporation, Ltd., of London, Mr Ernest Turnbull, managing director of Hoyts Theatres, Ltd., of Australia, the directors of Amalgamated Theatres, Ltd., and Sir Alexander Korda, Britain’s eminent producer,” said Mr Moodabe. “The transaction provides for the exhibition throughout Australia and New Zealand of a number of British films to be released by the British Lion Film Corporation in the United Kingdom. Amalgamated Theatres will handle the releases throughout New Zealand. The films will be distributed ;n Australia and New Zealand through 20th Century Fox, which for the last 11 years has handled the distribution of most of ,the outstanding British pictures screened in these countries. These films will be given treatment and presentation equal to the best American-made films. “The independent producers involved include Herbert Wilcox, Carol Reed, Leslie Arliss, Anthony Kimmins, Zoltan Korda, and Edward Black.”
