APPLICATIONS TOTAL 182,247
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, September 19. In a review of universal family benefits the Minister in Charge of Social Security (the Hon. W. E. Parry) announced to-day that up to the ena oi August a total of 182,247 applications for the benefit had been received, and he estimated that each year there would be 30,000 children bom who would become eligible for the benefit. Of the total applications 176,286 had been granted by the end of August. Applicants desiring cash payments in full totalled 113,964, and those desiring payment in whole or part to the Commissioner of Taxes 7469. Mother applicants desiring payment to post office savirfgs bank accounts totalled 54,853.
