PERTH TO SEATTLE FLIGHT
UNITED STATES NAVY’S PLANS LONDON, September 18. The United States Navy has announced plans for a 9000-mile non-stop flight from Australia to America. A Lockheed long-range P2V Neptune twin-engined flying-boat will take off late this month from Perth and fly in a great circle to Seattle. The flight is expected to take 44 hours. Vice-Admiral A. W. Radford said that complete latitude had been given the pilot He could continue after reaching the west cos st if he thought best. The flight would be a test of aeroplane endurance and pilot fatigue. The object would not be primarily • long-distance record attempt. Family’s Flight from England to Australia.—After two months’ flying in east' stages from England in a singleengined Proctor aeroplane, Mr FOgden arrived at Darwin late on Wednesday night with his wife and six-year-old daughter. The aeroplane arrived unheralded, and the Ogden family could obtain no accommodation until the Royal Australian Air Foroe came to their assistance—Darwin, September 19.
