CONSERVATIVE PARTY PROPOSALS
UNITED FRONT WITH LIBERALS (Rec. 9 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 19. Motions to be presented at the annual conference of the National Union of Conservative and Unionist Associations at Blackpool on October 3,4, and 5 include demands first for a united Conservative-Libera) antiSocialist front at the next election: second, for a definite statement of policy, and third, for the abandonment of “the worn-out title Conservative which holds no hope for future boldness” and the substitution of “Unionist” or “National Party.” Another motion “deplores the dictatorial attitude of the Government
and certain Socialist councils towards the press, particularly the refusal to import sufficient newsprint for fair reporting.” It simultaneously “welcomea an impartial inquiry into the press provided that a similar inquiry Is held into the 8.8. C.”
