SALE OF ELECTRIC RADIATORS

REASON FOR RESTRICTIONS IN SOUTH ISLAND It seemed to be the general opinion that the restrictions placed upon the disposal of electric radiators did not now apply in the South Island, said the Electricity Controller (Mr F. T. M. Kissel), in a letter received at a meeting of the North Canterbury Electric Power Board yesterday. He added that because of the extremely difficult Sosition with electric power supply in le North Island, hp wished to correct that impression "The sale of electric radiators and radiator elements continues to be prohibited throughout the South Island as well as in the North Island.” he said. The whole purpose of enforcing the restrictions upon sales in the South Island was to prevent supplies arriving in the North Island for disposal without permits. Mr Kissel said he realised that the enforcement of the order called for extra work on the board’s part, and perhaps seemed to no - good purpose. “I am sure, however, that unless the drift of radiators to the North Island is checked the efforts of sunplv authorities to limit load in the North Island particularly the electric radiator load, will be very much undermined.’’ he concluded.
