ANTONESCU ON TRIAL
CHARGE OF TREASON BROUGHT (Rec. 8 p.m.) ' BUCHAREST. May B. Marshal lon Antonescu, the former Rumanian dictator, with IB associates, appeared before the People’s Tribunal charged with treason. The trial, which is the biggest political trial in Rumanian history, is expected to last a month. Seven others of the accused, all members of the Fascist Iron Guard, including the leader, Horia Sima, will be tried in their absence. Antonescu, who was swaggering and deflant, when asked whether he had any previous convictions, said he had onee been tried for bigamy. The main charges in the Indictment are: first, inviting Hitler's armies to enter Rumania;' second, aggression against Russia resulting in 624,740 casualties; third, the enalavemeift of press propaganda for the purpose of converting Rumania to Nazism; fourth; the so-called "Humanisation” of Jewish property.
