DISCUSSIONS ON BANKING
MR NASH IN LONDON (Special Correspondent N.Z.PA.) (Rec. 11.40 p.m.) LONDON, May 7. Questions concerning the nationalisation of the Bank of New Zealand and of the American loan were discussed by the New Zealand Minister of Finance (the Rt. Hon. W. Nash) and Lord Balfour of Burleigh (chairman of directors of the National Bank of New Zealand) when they lunched recently. Mr Nash also gave a cocktail party for the Australian Prime Minister (Mr Chifley) and the Australian .Minister for External Affairs (Dr. H. V. Evatti before Mr Chifley left London. With Mr Chifley and Mr Attlee. Mr Nash was also present at Wembley Stadium and saw Wakefield Trinity beat Wigan in the final of the Rugby League. He was interested to see the New Zealander, Nordgren. score for Wigan.
